Wine and Spirits Packaging: why design folding cartons and labels together?

A true vehicle for the brand’s identity: discover how a coordinated approach between packaging and labelling ensures perfect visual consistency.

Consistent packaging: a real asset.

In the world of wines and spirits, every detail counts. Even before tasting the product, consumers discover a brand’s world through its packaging.

The case protects the bottle and catches the eye, whilst the label provides essential information whilst embodying the product’s identity right through to consumption, thanks to its shape, colours, finishes and material effects.
For brands, these two elements must not be considered in isolation; together, they form part of a single experience and contribute directly to the perception of the product’s quality.

However, their development is still often entrusted to different suppliers, leading to multiple rounds of approval and increasing the risk of inconsistencies between the various elements.

Why develop the folding carton and the label at the same time?

Designing the packaging and the label as part of a coordinated approach ensures perfect harmony between the various elements of the packaging.

This approach offers several advantages:

  • colour consistency across the different media
  • seamless continuity in graphics and finishes
  • greater control over the visual identity across an entire product range
  • a single point of contact to simplify communication and project monitoring
  • a consistent consumer experience, from discovering the packaging to the bottle itself

Beyond the aesthetic aspect, this coordination helps to enhance the perceived quality of the product and the brand’s differentiation.

Two complementary areas of expertise serving the wine and spirits sector.

Autajon and its teams support players in the wine and spirits sector in developing packaging solutions, drawing on our complementary areas of expertise.

By combining the expertise of our sites specialising in labels and cardboard packaging, we are able to provide comprehensive coordination of your projects. Our teams work together on colour specifications, graphic files, finishes and technical requirements to ensure perfect consistency between every element of the packaging.

This organisational structure also facilitates communication between the various points of contact and enables us to support you throughout the development of your new products.

KORMA: a project developed thanks to our complementary areas of expertise.

The development of the KORMA range by the Distillerie des Volcans d’Auvergne perfectly illustrates how our areas of expertise complement one another.

Prior to the launch, the brand wished to evolve the identity of its range. To support them in this process, our teams drew on the expertise of the Autajon Étiquettes Lithobru Cognac to produce technical mock-ups. These enabled the brand to compare several finishing options and visualise the final outcome of their project with complete confidence prior to production.
These prototypes enabled the brand to compare several approaches under conditions closely resembling the final product and to validate the technical choices best suited to its positioning.

Once this development phase was completed, the project involved two further Group sites:

Thanks to this collaboration between several specialist sites, the colours, material effects, finishes and various graphic elements have been perfectly harmonised to ensure complete consistency between the bottle and its box.

Each product thus retains its own identity whilst blending naturally into the visual identity of the KORMA range.

A comprehensive approach to ever more premium packaging

Developing packaging is no longer simply a matter of producing a box or a label. It involves designing a cohesive whole that showcases your brand and products whilst meeting the technical, manufacturing and marketing requirements of each project.

Using a single supplier for all your packaging components ensures perfect consistency across your packaging, from design right through to production (of your labels, cases, boxes and promotional packaging).

Thanks to our complementary expertise in cardboard packaging and labels, we support players in the wine and spirits sector in designing bespoke solutions, conceived as a harmonious whole.

Are you developing a new range of wines or spirits? Our teams will support you in designing packaging that combines technical performance, brand identity and manufacturing quality.
