Cardboard boxes

Desktop publishing conceptualization and pre-press

At the request of the client, the Autajon Group, through the Research and Development department, proposes the creation of a new form of Folding carton.
The conceptualization deparment will develop a neutral, computer generated, prototype by means of an automatic tracing cutter and then given a real volume called a White Cut prototype.
This prototype is then presented to the client for approval. Sourced from this proof or the client computer files, the desktop publisher will weave the graphic design elements together with the géometric ones in order to arrive at a client print approval..
The Desktop designer's control will be undertaken from the elements provided to him. The colour proof expedited for validation from the client.

Methods

With the help of client documents and of the client validated pricing proposal, the methods department defines, together with the production department, the production dossier that defines the different phases of production.
The Production dossier, therefore, initiates and engages all the material and raw materials requests (Cardboard, cutting die etc)

Copy & Ink Laboratories

Starting with the computerized files created by our Desktop publishing operators, the copy laboratory engraves the printing plates thanks to a CTP (Computer to plate) technology that allows for productivity gains, printing improvements and a significant reproduction reliability.

The copy laboratory equally ensures the tooling films, the varnish plates and the control of the offset plates.
In parallel, in the ink laboratory, the inks are created according to precise client needs.

When the inks conform to the client’s preferences, the colorist prepares the requested dyes for printing.
Each individual ink formula is automatically archived.

Printing

Before printing, the machine operators prepare and allign the machines. The colour adjustments are verified with the help of different means (density metre, pantone or bar code reader).

In the case of a first-time printing, the client gives his go ahead on the machine by signing a print approval. Once the colour is validated by the client, the printing can begin. The front end of the folding carton is printed and the back end follows the same proceedure.

The different types of printing (Offset, Flexography and screen printing) permit a wide variety of colours and surfaces (brilliant, opaque or sparkles).

In order to avoid counterfeit products, Autajon proposes various solutions.

After the singning of a confidentiality agreement, the in-depth study will lead to the practical application of authentification and security measures which reassure the client.

Gold embossing

The Gold foil stamping is frequently used, notably for the cosmetics industry to bring out a luxurious appearance.

In gold, silver, couloured or holographic effects, the heat foil stamping is undertaken with gold stamping tools that are selected in advance.

Film Coating

The Film Coating consists of lamenating a brilliant, opaque or satin transparent film to embellish or protect the folding carton.

It is also possible to film coat the paper with metalised film in gold or silver before the printing to produce a metal like effect on the printed surface.

Cutting & Embossing

The machine tool alignment is prepared (out of the machine environment).
The machine operator assures that the cutout form is correct, they then prepare the machine by positioning the cutout form and the ejection plate.

At this stage the phases of embosing or stamping can be encorporated.
It is then possible to add braile definition and then the stripping phase comes next.

This operation consists of seperating the case from the cardboard matrix.
For large printing jobs, the folding boxes are cut out and ejected mechanically. For smaller print jobs, this phase is undertaken manually.

Gluing

The folding boxes are then transferred on a glueing production line where they are automatically folded and glued before the final packaging. .
Quality control officers then identify faulty boxes and amount of glue applied.

Whether folding cartons or folding boxes, all finished products undergo quality tests.
The totality of these measures strictly adhere to the ISO 9002 quality standards.
